40th Anniversary Shredder Shock Party 

It all started in the winter of 1985/86 when Tom Love took a couple cataraft tubes he'd built and decided to put them together with cross tubes and a floor when it became apparent a frame for the tubes wasn't going to materialize. Tom's dual purpose of not ruining the plans of a friend and getting paid for what he'd done up to that point became the birth of the Shredder, and the rest is history.

Come join us the weekend of July 10-12th, 2026 in Ohiopyle for a celebration of 40 years of the joy Tom Love's invention has brought so many people in that time. We are organizing two nights of celebration centered around the whitewater that made it all happen all those years ago. So here's a quick overview of what to expect:

Parties:

• Friday July 10th at the Twisted Spoke Cafe in Ohiopyle 

  • Live Music: Meadow Run @ 6pm​ Leftover Stews @ 9 pm

  • Shredder Swag Giveaways, and drink ticket with attendance and shirt purchase

• Saturday July 11th at the Falls City Pub in Ohiopyle​

  • Live Music: American Darlings​

  • Shredder Swag Giveaways, buffet dinner, and drink ticket with attendance and shirt purchase

  • Live drawing of the Team River Runner Big Rocker Shredder Giveaway winner

Boating:

We are not organizing a single individual float trip so people can paddle at their own skill sets but there will be groups going to several local runs. Honor the Tom Love tradition by heading to the section you'd like to paddle and meet new friends to paddle with by chatting with other boater/Shredder owners, maybe wear mismatched shoes if your really want to get in the spirit.

  • Middle Youghiogheny: Confluence to Ohiopyle Float Trip

  • Cheat Narrows: Rowlesburg, WV to Friends of the Cheat takeout several sections of varying excitement, water level dependent

• Class 3-4:

  • Lower Youghiogheny: Ohiopyle to Brunner Run classic trip​

  • Casselman River: Markleton to Fort Hill, water level dependent (need Fish Commission sticker to play legally)

  • Stonycreek: Hollsopple ballfields to Carpenters Park near Johnstown, PA, releases dependent on lake levels 

  • Cheat Canyon: Albright, WV to Jenkinsburg bridge, water level dependent

  • Little or Upper Big Sandy: down to Rockville bridge, water level dependent

• Class 4-5:​

  • Upper Youghiogheny: Sang Run to Friendsville, MD scheduled releases on Friday, Saturday, and Monday​

  • Big Sandy: Rockville Bridge to Jenkinsburg Bridge, water level dependent

Tall Oaks Campground is located a few miles south of Ohiopyle and has agreed to host our shenanigans. If you would like to camp during the weekend, we encourage you to join a group of Shredder owners there so everyone can meet new friends, and chat daily boating plans to go off on your own before the evening parties.
